Every Five Star Poncho is handmade with care using heavyweight wool and field tested design. These are not mass produced, lightweight novelties. They're purpose built layers for disappearing into the tree line, braving the cold, or turning brush into a hide site.

Each poncho begins as loom woven wool, not knit or bonded fabric. The material is woven for structure and longevity, then expertly hemmed on all sides using lockstitch construction for strength, clean edges, and long term durability in the field.

Compared to the Field Cloak, the Wool Poncho offers more total coverage and more versatility, including shelter use with the Tie Out Upgrade, but it also retains more heat across the front of the body.

Each color has its own story; from the deep shadow of Revenge of the Poncho to the earth tones of Scavenger Poncho. But the build stays the same: rugged, oversized, and ready for the real world.

Every piece is made to order. Expect 6–8 weeks for fabrication before shipping.

Features

• Triple washed loom woven wool for softness, weight, and thermal delay
• Lockstitched and expertly hemmed on all sides for durability and longevity
• Oversized cut for full mobility
• Large hood designed to fit over gear or helmets
• Survival grade paracord drawstring
• Optional kangaroo pocket (inside, outside, or none)
• Tie Out Upgrade available [HERE] for shelter, concealment, and field use

Construction Note

All hems and hood seams are finished using lockstitch construction, a method that interlocks thread on both sides of the fabric. This creates stronger, more reliable seams that resist unraveling under tension, movement, and long term field use.

Color & Fabric

Each poncho color uses our 16oz loom woven wool, milled and dyed to meet tactical needs.

The fabric has a matte, non reflective finish that adapts to changing light, built to break up your outline and delay your thermal signature, not shine like a costume.

Weight

Average weight is 3.5 pounds, depending on material and size.
These are built to last. Not cosplay. Not dress up. Real field gear.

Color Variants:

Forest v2
Same legendary green but upgraded. Still olive drab, still carrying that Fellowship of the Ring weight, but now with a drawstring hood and optional kangaroo pocket for when things get serious. Feels like it was dragged through Fangorn, patched in Rivendell, and worn into battle by someone who doesn’t need to be seen to win.

Hunter Poncho
Darker, deeper, and more refined than Forest. This one leans shadow over sunlight, pine needles, moss, and a silent step. Built from our triple washed 16oz wool, it’s soft, durable, and field ready. Hunter is for the one who’s already gone before you realize he moved.

Scavenger Poncho
Rich chocolate brown with a dusty, lived in feel. This one’s got Jawa energy: scrappy, clever, always watching. Feels like it came from a burned out outpost or the back of a rusted sandcrawler. The deep brown is a versatile earth tone; perfect for breaking up your outline in woodland and arid terrain alike.

Revenge of the Poncho
Blackened charcoal. Looks like midnight and feels like a reckoning. This one’s full Revenge of the Sith: dark robes, brooding tension, and a dangerous calm. Built for those walking away from the light, or toward something worse. For those ready to serve their new empire without mercy.

Snow Poncho
Pale gray, cold as resolve. This one feels like it came from Castle Black built for wind, ice, and everything waiting in the woods beyond the Wall. Whether you’re patrolling the frostbitten edge or just camping where the snow doesn’t quit, the Snow Poncho keeps you warm, quiet, and moving forward.

Desert Poncho
Dry tan, sun worn and serious. All Tatooine vibes heat, grit, and survival. This one looks like it’s seen more than one double sunset. Wear this when you're out checking the moisture vaporators or slipping past stormtroopers.

Wizard’s Poncho
Dark gray with the weight of memory. It’s Gandalf if he skipped the staff and went underground. The kind of color that doesn’t demand attention but always gets it. Quiet, heavy, and timeless. For the wanderer with a long past and a longer road ahead.

Field Use

Built for cold weather field use, camping, concealment, shelter setups, and outdoor movement.

Best suited for:
Cold weather wear
Bushcraft and camping
Layering over clothing or gear
Creating a hide site with tie outs
Users who want one garment that can serve multiple roles

Wear and Movement

The Wool Poncho gives full front and back coverage, which makes it warmer and more protective than an open front cloak.

Because the fabric covers both the front and back, it can feel heavier on the body than a cloak, even when the actual garment weight is similar or lighter.

The oversized cut allows movement, layering, and airflow, but the poncho naturally traps more warmth than the open front Field Cloak.

Thermal Delay

The wool does not make you invisible to thermal optics.

It slows heat signature buildup and helps break up the human outline seen through thermal imaging. This is what we call thermal delay.

The poncho works best when combined with terrain, shadow, reduced movement, and smart positioning. It is designed to delay and distort, not erase your heat signature.

Cloak vs Poncho

Choose the Wool Poncho if you want:
More overall versatility
More front and back coverage
Better warmth retention
Shelter capability with tie outs
A garment that can also function as field cover

Choose the Field Cloak if you want:
Better airflow while moving
Easier access to chest rigs, belts, and kit
A garment that feels lighter on the body
A more dramatic cloak silhouette

Limitations

The poncho is heavier and less packable than synthetic rain ponchos or lightweight ripstop gear.

It can trap more warmth during movement than the open front cloak. It is best suited for cool to cold weather, static use, field movement, camping, and concealment, not hot weather or ultralight backpacking.

Material and Build

Made from heavyweight 16oz loom woven wool with lockstitched construction and expertly hemmed edges.

The wool is chosen for durability, warmth, matte appearance, natural fire resistance, and thermal delay. Built for real field use, not costume wear.
